Here, I present price indices and data information for three of my projects, developed using R Shiny:
TFP Price Index includes price indices I constructed for the Thrifty Food Plan, which is used as the basis for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, formerly the Food Stamp Program). In my paper Estimating SNAP Purchasing Power and Its Effect on Participation, I use the TFP price index to estimate the real value (purchasing power) of SNAP benefits. The data for constructing the indices are the Nielsen data provided by the Kilts center.
SNAP Household Weights: weights that account for what SNAP households buy and where they redeem their SNAP benefits.
TFP Recommended Weights: weights recommended in the Thrifty Food Plan.
Chinese Wholesale Price Index includes price indices of agricultural commodities sold in wholesale markets in mainland China. The data were collected from 491 wholesale markets across 31 mainland provinces of China. The indices start from January 2016 and will be updated as new data become available.
The current display only presents the overall inflation for agricultural commodities in the Chinese wholesale market. The spatial indices and temporal indices for each of the 31 provinces will be available soon.
Dollar Store displays the count of dollar stores across the United States at the county level from 2000 to 2020.
The "Top3" dollar store chains are Dollar General, Dollar Tree, and Family Dollar.
